WINDUSTRY PROMOTES GO GREEN ENERGY AT 2019 MINNESOTA STATE FAIR
The first and only certified Vertical Access Wind Turbine (VAWT) in the U.S. will be featured at the Minnesota State Fair this year due to a collaboration with Windustry and two corporate sponsors: Go Green Energy, an Orono, MN company and Colite Technologies based in South Carolina. Both companies have advocated for certification by the Small Wind Certification Council (SWCC) as it provides third party verification regarding the turbines operational capabilities, and, qualifies all costs associated with the purchase and installation of the turbine for the federal renewable energy tax credits.
The President of Go Green Energy, Jay Nygard, has invited Governor Walz and Lieutenant Governor Flanagan to the Windustry booth at the Eco Experience. “Guests will see a Minnesota Vikings inspired 300 watt turbine on display and will have access to renewable energy experts and volunteers for questions about our turbines” Nygard stated.
Minnesota is the first state fair in the country to highlight an SWCC certified VAWT which is suitable for urban, suburban and rural settings. “We pursued certification of the DS-3000 Hi-VAWT turbine as a mandatory step in competing in the U.S. small wind market and are thrilled to be partnering with Go Green Energy and Windustry at our nation’s second largest fair”, said Kevin O’Hara, President and CEO of Colite Technologies.
“I’ve installed more than a dozen turbines in extreme weather situations and they’ve proven to be very durable in places with high wind, sub zero and hot temperatures”, said Nygard. “As a born and raised Minnesotan, I’m always excited to be at the fair and this year is going to be extra special as we have the opportunity to share this unique technology with fair guests”.

When the power went out at the Nygards, however, their solar system immediately kicked in to run what they call the essentials: fans, hot water heater, refrigerator, Internet, and just about everything else except the air conditioning and stove.
